Part 10: Extra Tools & Resources for SEO Success

April 23, 2012 by Travis Van Slooten

Welcome to the final part of our 10-part series on SEO! Over the past nine parts of this series we have looked at the various aspects of achieving SEO success. We’ve discussed things such as choosing the right keywords, writing stellar content, creating high quality links, and a variety of other topics.

Today we will be covering the “extras,” or all of those other important tools, tips, and ideas that were not covered in the previous nine parts.

Extra Tools to Build an SEO Campaign

In the first nine parts, we covered the major aspects of building a solid SEO campaign. We discussed what you should do: create solid content, build quality inbound links, monitor your site, etc. We discussed what you shouldn’t do: build irrelevant reciprocal links, stuff your content with keywords, etc. We even discussed time-wasters, i.e. spending copious amounts of time submitting your site to hundreds of search engines. Now, let’s take a look at some tools that can help with your SEO efforts.

SEO Tools

If you have a large website to manage, or if your sole responsibility is to be your company’s SEO person, you’ll want to use a variety of SEO tools. These are tools used by many SEO professionals in the management of their SEO campaigns. There are many more but these are the most popular tools and services that are used.

  • SEOmoz
  • Market Samurai
  • SEO Power Suite
  • Raven Tools

Analytical Tools

These tools provide important analytical information about your website and the visitors to your website. You’ll learn things like where your visitors are coming from, what keywords they used to find your website, how many pages they visit on your website, how long they stay on your website, and a plethora of other insightful data.

  • Google Analytics (free)
  • Piwik (free)
  • Crazy Egg (paid)

Other Tools & Resources

These are other SEO tools and resources that will help you with your SEO efforts.

  • Rank Checker from SEO Book – a rank tracker tool
  • SeoQuake Firefox Extension
  • Google Alerts – stay up to date on any topic you want to monitor

SEO Forums

Want to tap into various SEO communities to get “inside” information, tips, and strategies? Check out popular SEO forums. Here are some popular SEO forums:

  • SEO Chat
